The "SNL" cold open — don't miss the great Alec Baldwin doing his Donald Trump impersonation one more time.

Question for Meade:

I find that I'm more likely to vote for Trump after the events of the past week rather than less.

If the question in this campaign is character, I prefer vulgar over corrupt.

Meade: whom do you plan to vote for?

While I admit Clinton is just as wonderful a human being as Trump. I'll take the vulgar Trump. In the long run he will do less damage to the country. Added plus, the media, congress and the courts will work long and hard to challenge everything Trump does. Clinton will be corrupt and unchallenged. Too bad I didn't get to personally choose the candidates.

BTW, the arrogant Alec Baldwin......ick.

Alec Baldwin doing his great Donald Trump impression. (Fixed it for you.)

Seriously, Baldwin should talk about tapes actually disparing women: his own 11 year old daughter!.

I’m leaving this message for you to tell you that you have insulted me for the last time. You have insulted me. You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being… I don’t give a damn that you’re 12 years old or 11 years old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn’t care about what you do as far as I’m concerned.

You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone and when I come out there next week. I’m going to fly out there for the day just to straighten you out on this issue. I’m going to let you know just how disappointed in you that I am and how angry I am with you that you’ve done this to me again.

You made me feel like s*** and you’ve made me feel like a fool over and over and over again. And this crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother and you do it to me constantly and over and over again. I am going to get on a plane and I am going to straighten your ass out when I see you.

Do you understand me? I am going to really make sure you get it. That I’m going to get on a plane and I’m gonna turn around and come home. So you better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me. So I’m going to let you know how I feel, about what a rude little pig you really are. You are a rude thoughtless little pig. Okay?

I guess we all forgot that one, huh?

More... Alec Baldwin actions and words. But we forgive him -- he's a star!!!

Alec Baldwin cries during testimony, accused by friend of cheating with alleged stalker Genevieve Sabourin

For those of you who might not be aware, Alec Baldwin has been complaining of a stalker (whom it now turns out was his lover) and generally carrying on as if some crazed person was out to give him hell. I guess he never assumed his friend would out him in court. LOL!

Alec Baldwin wipes a tear in this Manhattan Criminal Court sketch as he recalls Tuesday how Genevieve Sabourin (right) ruined his and Hilaria’s engagement day.

Now Alec Baldwin has a reason to cry.

The actor’s claim that he never had sex with the French-Canadian actress accused of stalking him was called a lie Tuesday by his supposed friend, “Scarface” producer Martin Bregman.

“He’s lying,” Bregman told the Daily News after the first day of Genevieve Sabourin’s sensational trial wrapped. “He was screwing two women. One of them is his present wife and the other one, I presume, he was doing the girl in question.”

Bregman was referring to Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria, and the alleged stalker.

“To sidestep any involvement with (Sabourin), he made up a report,” said Bregman, who called the move “pretty stupid.”

We didn't forget that one EDH, but Alec isn't running for President.

But Althouse did call him "great."

My comments are entirely about perceptions, because I can't tell anyone how to vote or think.

All I can do is my best to expose for readers the factual and logical fallacies being presented, along with the level media bias, hypocrisy and selective outrage, all meant to skew the perceptions of the electorate and crowd-out the need for Hillary to have to debate the issues.

What I seek is a fair, lucid account to be presented to the voters before the election, not a media hit-job.

Like I said, this election is a paradox to me. The one who wins is more likely to be the one to loose in office because of each candidate's own flaws, what Obama is leaving behind and inexorable trends in history.

Wince said...

And I even said, "Alec Baldwin doing his great Donald Trump impression. (Fixed it for you.)"

I'd even say Baldwin is a great actor.

But as CatherineM says, he's not running for president, so there is no larger substance to debate.

What Hillary's camp (which I'd include the in-the-tank-media) is trying to do is replace substance with image as a short-cut to the presidency.

Keep the proles away from the polls with our power to shape the public mind. That's the establishment strategy that I find scary.

Ken B said...

CatherineM lives on a different planet, where parents don't hope their children are beautiful, with choices and options.

And we aren't really discussing Baldwin per se. We are discussing how Althouse can call him great while ranting about Trump. We know that Baldwin actually physically attacked people, committed perjury, filed false charges against a woman, and was crude about his daughter. We know Trump ... was crude about his daughter. See the problem? To demand consistency is not to endorse Trump. It is to demand consistency.

Well, I hope you appreciate what I've done for you.
I had to borrow someones Iphone to see this thing.

No, she doesnt try to impersonate a Filipina, not even Quijano, who hasnt a trace of an accent anyway. Quijano is your prototype of an utterly denatured type, interchangable media professional that sounds like any other, a base 3D manikin with a different skin applied. An Asian-American with the genuine flavor would have made it way more interesting. Heck, there are people who the could have imported from the Philippines that woukd have made the whole thing far more bizarre and interesting.

"hola" is played for laughs of course, as an obviously clueless pander. The Kaine-Pence bit is played quite neutrally I thought, unlike the Trump-Hilary bit.

The only people in the Philippines who would use "hola" are actual Spanish-speakers of which very few remain, and only to each other, and by homosexuals using their cutesey patois. Yes there is such a thing. Its a gay thing over there to put on social airs in a semi-ironic way, as is typical of gay culture, and sprinkling speech with Spanish is a stereotypical upper-class affectation - which they no longer do, anymore.
Unless of course you actually are from Zamboanga, where the Chabacano language does use "hola".

I looked it up and I was wrong. He wouldn't turn off his phone and got thrown off. Either way he confirmed he's an asshole. But it is interesting that he came to Woody Allen's defense when Dylan Farrow revealed she had been sexually assaulted by Woody. In that case it was a Democrat on the hot seat so Baldwin said it was nobody's business but the family. This pretty much covers it.

buwaya said...

Trump is a rebel against the clique indeed.

It doesnt matter very much who he is though, the message from the system would be the same, just varied in details. Trump gains in personal charisma and subversive message (no other Republican would have drawn those crowds to 100+ functions, he must have drawn nearly a million people to these things), versus his vulnerabilities in having been a celebrity, the very opposite of being a private person, for decades.

But the core of the thing is as Birkel says, Leviathan. Good catch, thats a good word. Hobbes had good things to say though, and his Leviathan bears little resemblance to this modern one.

Gentlemanly Bill attacked a woman in a hotel room, bit her lip until it bleed and then told her to "put ice on it." But that woman was only an Arkansas redneck, a humble nursing home administrator. So she doesn't matter to women like you. She's just white trash, a deplorable, a nobody.

Hillary defended a rapist, slandered the 12 year girl who was raped and got the rapist off on a technicality. Hillary later bragged and laughed about it. The girl was raped so brutally she was unable to have kids. But that's OK. She was just another piece of white trash and god knows those people shouldn't be reproducing anyway.

I'm sure you also defended Sarah Palin when Sandra Bernhardt said she should be gangraped by blacks.

Sure you did.

Spare me your phoney outrage, hypocrite.

exiledonmainstreet, green-eyed devil said...

And yeah, Trump said crude and piggish things.

The crux of the matter is that no matter what Trump has said and done, the Clintons have done much, much worse.

And given what Democrat pols from JFK and Bobby Kennedy to Clinton, Al Gore and John Edwards have done and said about women, I find your outrage to be a bit selective. Liberal outrage always is.

No, I put that under what I called "edgy humor". Words not actions. In my experience, bad actors tend not to "go there" with jokes.

Bill is a pig, but I am not defending Bill. You are defending Trump. Sad!

I am kinda "defending" Trump, inasmuch as I'm just saying Trump should get a fair "trial" on what he's actually said and done. What we have is a media lynching.

Again, I think the worst thing you could do to either Hillary or Trump is elect him or her president. That's the paradox for me.

Why I lean Trump in the campaign right now is essentially the bi-partisan, trans-establishment forces that are aligned against him and the right of the constituency he speaks for to be heard.

They don't want Hillary to have to defend her record on substance. I do. And so should you.

That's exactly it. The problem is that there is a dearth of great leaders in the Western world. Look at every western country - which one is not governed by a mediocrity? Her son will live-blog it (and do a good job, as usual).

At some point the Trump Pussy Controversy will enter the debate; Althouse will then blog her disappointment/dismay/disgust at whatever Trump says, no matter what Trump says. Hillary is irrelevant.

Tomorrow morning there will be a numbered-list post from Althouse analyzing Trump's relevant debate comments to better hone the disappointment/dismay/disgust. There may be a quote included from the NYT and/or the Washington Post.

There will probably be a repeated call for him to end his run.

There will be over three hundred-plus comments.

Another Post will follow, scrutinizing some pundit / talking-head's response to the debate.

Then: Rat Cafe.

Extra points: Instapundit says something about the whole thing being overblown, for which Althouse will take Reynolds to task.

If Trump by some miracle should win, I expect him to disappoint and anger me at least 80 percent of the time. I expect Hillary to wreck havoc on the Republic 100% of the time. And the media will cheer her on. They would not do that with Trump.

I am headed off bird hunting for most of the month of October so my Trump angst will be limited to only a few hours per week. I have not abandoned hope, but unless there is a miracle Trump ain't going to make it. Clinton's crew has managed to damage the critical % of voters who might have put Trump over the top. ( I would happily accept a miracle, however!)

I was wondering what, or who, it takes to fix a badly broken government. I knew Sam Adams was pretty much a rabble rouser so I looked him up. "American patriot Samuel Adams (1722-1803) failed as a brewer and newspaper publisher before becoming one of the Independence movement’s most celebrated leaders and statesmen. An organizer of Boston’s Sons of Liberty, Adams conceived of the Boston Committee of Correspondence and coordinated Boston’s resistance to the Tea Act, which climaxed in the famous Tea Party. Further along there was a reference to Patrick Henry, so I looked him up also. "He was first a failure as a planter and storekeeper"; "an outspoken opponent of the Stamp and Townshend Acts levied by England, he stirred the seeds of discord with his famous Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death speech to the Virginia Assembly in 1775."

Now Trump is neither of these guys, but they prove that you don't improve things if you are willing to go along with injustices and unfairness. Trump is harsh but he has struck a chord in the people. As a result, the establishment on both sides intends to crush him. Unfortunately, he does not have his own printing press to disseminate his views on the status quo, and the Loyalists of his party have decided to support the king. I see no one on the horizon, certainly none of the Republican primary candidates, who has the courage- or the chutzpah - that Trump has demonstrated and that will be required to change the nature of our government. I will continue to hope against hope, but I am afraid that we are, as I think Brando says, doomed.

CatherineM, Paula Jones is one of Bill's victims who is appearing with Trump tonight, along with Katherine Wiley and Juanita Broaddick and Kathy Shelton, whose Tweet I posted above.

It seems Paula Jones is willing to forgive Trump's stupid comment about her. Perhaps she is in a position to know who presents the real danger here.

Ahhh. Thanks EDH. Amazing how short people's memories are. Your post deserves a re-post, as people seem to be a little too comfortable with hypocrisy for me:

It's all bullshit. We've known Trump is crass, crude, and creepy all along. Just as we've known Hillary is corrupt, incompetent, and ugly. Just as we've known that whoever the GOP candidate was, the media arm of the Wannabe Commies would treat him/her unfairly. Just as we've known it will be a disaster.

Let's talk about it. Hey! Here's a thought: let's talk abut it on the internet! October surprise my ass.

Look!!! Over there!!! Squirrel pussy!

Sigh.... It is over. Except for the weeping and gnashing of teeth.

BTW, I'm running a special on all bullets this week only WIll trade for dope or liquor.

Did Trump just side-step the entire Bush tape controversy?

Now she's comparing herself to Lincoln, while going all Joe McCarthy.

Alec Baldwin, akin to Andrew Sullivan, is the sort whom I full-stop refused ever to pay attention to ever again, and so I have have remained faithful to that refusal ever since.

2:43 PM I cant put in links or even type proper Spanish.
4:23 PM I had to borrow someones Iphone to see this thing.

I will assume you are using an Android phone, if not, ignore all this.
type proper Spanish.
Go into Settings > Language & Input.
Under Keyboards & Input Methods, tap the settings icon next to Android keyboard (AOSP), [on mine it says "Google"] assuming that's the keyboard you are using.
Select Input language.
Deselect "Use system language."
Select the languages you wish to have enabled.

I cant put in links
With Firefox for Android simply long press the address bar and select "copy."
then in the text entry field long press and select "paste".
In Chrome it takes a whole bunch of kludgy steps. Screw them.

I have multiple languages on my computers and phones, most with characters that aren't used in English. I email and text family in Icelandic: æþðö

"...I am hardly a Trump fangirl. This election is not permitting us the luxury of choosing between good and bad - it's bad and godawfully terrible, with very, very serious consequences."

No,with regards to the mainstream "Frick" and "Frack" parties, it's a choice between godawfully terrible and terribly godawful, very very serious consequences whoever wins.

Break free! Vote for a third party candidate, or write in your own choice, or, better yet, write in "None of the above." Like Pavlov's rats (sic), the voters continue to choose every four years between shitty and shitty and they act as if whoever wins will be different than the opponent or from any of their predecessors.

As has already been shown, we no longer have a functioning representational republic, and surely will never regain it by accepting and participating every four years in voting for one or the other of two Wall Street candidates.
