"If you're there and you're protesting and you do these actions, you will be attacked at Trump rallies. That's what we want."

"The whole point of it is that we know that Trump's people will freak the fuck out, his security team will freak out, and his supporters will lose their shit."

Said Scott Foval, who was the national field director for the Americans United for Change until he was fired for saying that on a James O’Keefe undercover video.

TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 241 CONSPIRACY AGAINST RIGHTS

SUMMARY:

Section 241 of Title 18 is the civil rights conspiracy statute. Section 241 makes it unlawful for two or more persons to agree together to injure, threaten, or intimidate a person in any state, territory or district in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him/her by the Constitution or the laws of the Unites States, (or because of his/her having exercised the same). Unlike most conspiracy statutes, Section 241 does not require that one of the conspirators commit an overt act prior to the conspiracy becoming a crime.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.

TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 241

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same;...

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

42 U.S. Code § 1985 - Conspiracy to interfere with civil rights

(3) Depriving persons of rights or privileges.

If two or more persons in any State or Territory conspire or go in disguise on the highway or on the premises of another, for the purpose of depriving, either directly or indirectly, any person or class of persons of the equal protection of the laws, or of equal privileges and immunities under the laws; or for the purpose of preventing or hindering the constituted authorities of any State or Territory from giving or securing to all persons within such State or Territory the equal protection of the laws; or if two or more persons conspire to prevent by force, intimidation, or threat, any citizen who is lawfully entitled to vote, from giving his support or advocacy in a legal manner, toward or in favor of the election of any lawfully qualified person as an elector for President or Vice President, or as a Member of Congress of the United States; or to injure any citizen in person or property on account of such support or advocacy; in any case of conspiracy set forth in this section, if one or more persons engaged therein do, or cause to be done, any act in furtherance of the object of such conspiracy, whereby another is injured in his person or property, or deprived of having and exercising any right or privilege of a citizen of the United States, the party so injured or deprived may have an action for the recovery of damages occasioned by such injury or deprivation, against any one or more of the conspirators.

I have watched a dozen videos and have seen one or two Trump supporters lash out. There is currently a case in court in which an arrest warrant was issued for a Trump supporter, alleging he knocked down a woman with an oxygen tank on her back.

It turns out, although it is difficult to find a link, the man being charged is legally blind and was being led by his wife. They were beset by protestors and he can't see.

The protestor can be seen in the video grabbing his shoulder and then falling down. It was a setup. He has returned for trial from his home. The trial, of course, will be after the election.

Agreed.
But that isn't the story here, I don't think. Remember the Chicago anti-Trump riots were blamed on Bernie voters, and the story (even from some Republicans) was that Trump was so angry he brought these angry mobs upon himself.
But the angry mobs were paid to mob. They were the ones causing the violence at (at least) that rally. But only the few people that were violent and supported Trump brought any kind of wide-spread criticism.

damikesc said...

Yeah, the press doesn't give a shit about this. Democrats TODAY discussing blatantly illegal actions TODAY aren't as important as locker room talk and pathetic allegation from well over a decade ago.

Sure, they're suppressing people's rights --- BUT these chicks had their feelings hurt!

If the press cared about covering stories at all, O'Keefe would be a God in that field. That he's a pariah speaks volumes. He is what Woodward and Bernstein WISH they were. He isn't a guy who had a bitter CIA agent feeding him information. He is getting the story without a lot of help.

Flith. The Democrats have mired our republic in filth up to our collective necks. If Hillary is elected none of these criminals will face prosecution. The only recourse for the GOP and all the other parties will be to fight back in kind.

Yup, until the limp dishrags that are the Republican elites get over themselves, we can be happy knowing that we will never win a Presidential election again. It will never happen for the rest of any of our lives. All because our "betters" just cannot stomach doing what is necessary anymore.

It's time to put some much-needed fear in Progressives. And since we can't use courts or public pressure (thanks media), there aren't many options left. And few of those options are pleasant, but c'est la vie.

Remember those club-wielding New Black Panthers in front of the polling station in Philadelphia back in 2008? None of them were prosecuted, or even interviewed by Obama's Injustice Department.

Not even the damning part. They had a CONVICTION on them ready and delivered and Obama said no. It wasn't even that he didn't want to prosecute. That part was already done.

An the sad thing is that in places like Chicago, Republicans have as few protections for their actions as blacks did in the 50's in Democrat bastions...and even fewer options to protect themselves since the you won't see a Democrat coming to their aid as Eisenhower did to blacks.

He is Rep. Jan Schakosky's ( Illinois) husband and is already a felon.

Good odds are that she SHOULD be one.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell can publically pressure the FBI,

We know they won't. And if they did, it'd be meaningless. The DOJ is now a Democrat-only entity. Should a Republican win the WH, they'll need to wholesale violate federal law and fire every single employee in every single agency in the entire government. Total wipeout. Re-staff from scratch. Tell the courts to fuck off and suspend all of their pensions permanently until they can prove that they have not been violating citizens' rights for years.

Yeah, with her "isn't Obama lovely kissing babies" bit, Althouse finally destroyed the last bit of hesitation I had in becoming a full supporter of repealing the 19th amendment.

I'm approaching that level. If the utter bastardization of the concept of separation of powers and total coarsening of the entire political culture can be trumped by fucking kissing babies, then this country is done for.

New theory- the anti semitic pro-Trump Twitter bots were actually created by Hillary's people.

I have zero doubt they are. But Twitter is totally pro-Hillary with a censorship board of far-left SJW. We will never find out.

Which is why I am pessimistic about reform.
Besides all the population-level negative trends.
It is worth a try, but the task is of mind-boggling scale and complexity, besides the prospect of enormous, extremely well funded opposition.

You would think that a major US political party employing an army of Brownshirts would be newsworthy, but apparently not if that party is the Democrat party.

Oh, and in case you're wondering what these Brownshirts have been up to, look for yourself.

Thanks go out to Obama, Hillary, and the DNC for bringing us down to Nazi Germany levels of political violence.

And to all of you Democrat voters and donors, don't think your hands are clean. Every one of you is responsible for this.

The best thing to do is move entire sections of the federal government to a few hundred thousand small cities spread across the country. Depress housing prices in NOVA, DC and southern Maryland and disrupt the lives of federal workers. Make the federal workers meet the people they are regulating. And make the regulated people understand exactly the sort of Leviathan State that rules them.

This can be accomplished without Congressional approval within the normal budgeting process. Congress would be unable to block a president committed to these actions. And it would literally take hundreds of thousands of dollars out of the pockets of bureaucrats.

Then, too, it would be easier to reduce the size and scope of the government. The incentives to join the government would be fewer when one might be posted in BFE instead of NOVA. The money could be distributed and therefore harder to co-opt.

Capital City is a monopoly that must be disrupted. Start by spreading it thin.

Mick is not a Moby. He believes what he says and is mostly correct. Just because Obama got away with his perfidy is no reflection on Mick. It might be a reflection on commenters who think that if someone is guilty, the "authorities" will do something about it.

Hi Birkel,

This is an interesting suggestion, and in fact its not new. This has been an ongoing idea since the 1950's at least, and it has been in implementation to some degree for a very long time, purely circumstantially. And most Fed employees (by far) are not in fact residents of Washington/Maryland/NoVa. There are Federal gov outposts and installations everywhere.

Much of the argument was to spread around government spending. Some is for handling local business, some is just as you suggest, decentralization.

This is why, for instance, during the latest IRS scandal, the Teaparty orgs applications were being processed in Cincinnati, not Washington. Thats just how it is.

Now, you could argue that the HQ's of the various bureaucracies be moved. Thats what you really want to do, and these are relatively few entities. You could stick the DOJ in Amarillo, perhaps. But you are talking of a couple of dozen huge outfits, not thousands, because there already are thousands of locations.

What effect this could have I don't know. I suspect that corruption would simply follow. The problem really is the power. Their power would remain the same and modern communications will keep it that way regardless of where they are.

I would have them living in FEMA trailers in North Dakota. And the feds do not have decision makers or policy gurus around the country. Those are in DC and they never meet anybody outside their own cadre of cloistered true believers.

I'm not talking about moving a few park rangers to BFE. I'm talking about moving Treasury Department policy wonks to Cheyenne.

"Those are in DC and they never meet anybody outside their own cadre of cloistered true believers."

But if you move them all to Cheyenne they will probably just speak with each other anyway.

Heck, they could probably get a different perspective on anything at all in Washington DC by simply walking a few blocks, but they don't.

And if the power and money say that they must believe and act in a certain way then they will do so even in Cheyenne.

Birkel said...

Not all of them together, buwaya. I would move a dozen here and a handful there. I would require -- as part of a Green initiative -- that they telecommute from inside FEMA trailers.

I would make their cushy lives harder. And much more interesting, in ways that people do not prefer.

And I would be perfectly within my legal rights to do so. No union protections for a moved office.

Give me some credit for deviousness and deliberation.

buwaya said...

Well, I am not going to question your deviousness, but I have my doubts re feasibility.

At any rate, the disruption of the move could certainly delay or slow down the rate of rule making and distract them from oppressing the people, for a while anyway.

I doubt my current power to do much. But not my plans if ever given a shot.
