"Adult Swim cancels alt-right sketch show Million Dollar Extreme."

AV Club reports.

Top-rated comment over there: "Meanwhile, despite a reportedly troubled production, the offensive, ramshackle alt-right sketch show The Trump Presidency is still scheduled to premiere January 20."

Cute.

Since lefties won't be running anything they can channel all their energy in discovering the most creative ways to disparage those who are.

The opposite of "leans left" is " alt-right"?

I gleefully wore a pantsuit all day on Tuesday, champagne ready, and am still crying, wearing my safety pin, googling what to do next.

Is the senior director of programming supposed to be able to predict trends?

I enjoy reading the AV Club, but when the subject turns to politics, the commenters there are universally insufferable. Fortunately most TV shows I want to read about don't directly invoke political discussion, and Disqus threads can be collapsed.

Anyway, it sounds like the show stank and that's why it was cancelled. Big news.

At least she's rethinking her life.

Since we have no content to judge, this is speculation.

But I really suspect that by alt-right they really mean mainstream America.

To some on the Island of Manhattan, Newark looks like the west.

If "stinks" is the sole criterion for cancellation for shows on Adult Swim, AS would have a very limited line-up indeed.

I'm so old I can actually remember when AS had interesting stuff.

Most of the good stuff on Adult Swim are shows that are in syndication rather than original programming with the exception of the Venture Brothers and Rick and Morty which are both fantastic.

Seconded! I understand that ATHF had to end, but it's sad to think that at one point you had Home Movies, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, Frisky Dingo, Assy McGee, Lucy Daughter of the Devil, 12oz Mouse, Tom Goes to the Mayor, and Space Ghost all kicking around at roughly the same time. NTSFSUV, Delocated, and Children's Hospital could be pretty good, and Fat Guy Stuck in Internet and Saul of the Molemen were ok. Moral Orel and Frankenhole were interesting to watch even if they weren't always hilarous--same with China, IL and every now and then with Superjail.

What do they have now? Rick & Morty is good and when they decide to put out a Venture Bros episode they're ok. I liked Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell and that's apparently coming back, but it isn't a can't-miss type of show. Mostly when I think of Adult Swim now it's for one-off infomerical or TV parodies.

Maybe I just got too old for the brand, but it seems like Tim & Eric (who can both be quite funny) convinced the network to embrace their brand of offputting weirdness to a degree that just sucked the fun out of most of their lineup.

(Also Squidbillies. What happened to Squidbillies?)

Political comedy show --- what could possibly go wrong?
